Old Speck is Maine's third highest mountain at 4170 feet. The old fire lookout has been converted to an observation tower offering excellent views in all directions. |
Directions
Route 126 passes through Grafton Notch State Park. There is a parking lot at the trailhead. |
Trail
Trail ascends gradually at first, passing through beautiful hardwood forest. Alternate Eyebrow Trail (loop off main trail) has some very steep sections. There are some very good scenic overlooks along the trail higher up the mountain. Trail passes over slabs in places. Parking lot to summit 3.8 miles. Elevation gain 2700 feet. |
